  6. FIRST:  Please make a backup copy of this diskette!

  8. NOTE: ProKalc is 32-bit software and is intended to be installed and
  9. run on Windows 95 or Windows NT.  ProKalc is not compatible with 
  10. earlier versions of the Windows operating system.  For Windows 3.11 
  11. and earlier, obtain a copy of ProKalc, the 16-bit version of this 
  12. calculator.

  14. This is the shareware version of ProKalc, the Scientific/Financial/
  15. Geometry calculator.  ProKalc is a Microsoft Windows 95 program and, 
  16. therefore, you must have Microsoft Windows 95 to use it.  This package
  17. should contain the following files.  If it does not, you do not have 
  18. the complete package and ProKalc may not function properly.  Before 
  19. installation the shareware version contains the following 7 files:

  21.      SETUP.EXE     -  The installation utility.
  22.      PROKALC.EXE   -  The program itself.
  23.      CALC.ELP      -  The help file for ProKalc.
  24.      FILE_ID.DIZ   -  A description file for online services.
  25.      REGSCAL.TXT   -  The registration form in NOTEPAD format.
  26.      SITESCAL.TXT  -  The site registration form in NOTEPAD format.
  27.      README.1ST    -  The file you are reading now.

  29. There are two ways to install ProKalc.  You can use Windows Explorer
  30. to show the files on the distribution diskette and 'double-click' on 
  31. the SETUP.EXE file or you can use the 'Run' menu item in the 'Start' 
  32. menu on Windows Taskbar.  For the second option, enter the path to the
  33. SETUP.EXE file in the dialog box in the 'Run' window.  For example, 
  34. entering

  38. would run the installation program if you were installing from the 
  39. "A-Drive". SETUP.EXE will copy the necessary files to your hard drive
  40. and, if you prefer, SETUP will also create the Startup group along 
  41. with the necessary icons to run ProKalc.

  43. Remember, ShareWare is software you can try before you buy.  You are 
  44. entitled to evaluate ProKalc for a period of sixty days from the time
  45. you first install it on your system.  If you try ProKalc and decide
  46. you like it, you are asked to pay the author the registration fee of 
  47. $16.00 + $3.00 shipping/handling. You will receive the latest version
  48. registered in your name.  The registered version does not have the 
  49. advertisement screens you see in the shareware version.

  58.                     ShowMe Software License Agreement

  60. 1. Grant of License
  61.  
  62.       a)  This ShowMe Software License Agreement ("License") permits
  63.           the holder of an individual License to use one copy of the
  64.           software program on any single computer, provided the soft-
  65.           ware is in use on only one computer at any time.  If you
  66.           have multiple Licenses for the software, then at any time
  67.           you may have as many copies of the software in use as you
  68.           have Licenses.  A copy of the software is in use when it is
  69.           loaded into memory ("RAM") or when it is loaded onto a per-
  70.           manent memory device such as a hard disk or diskette or other
  71.           similar storage device. It is the user's responsibility to
  72.           ascertain that the number of concurrent users of the software
  73.           will not exceed the number of Licenses.  If a copy of the
  74.           software is loaded onto the hard disk or other storage device
  75.           of a computer that is assigned to one individual, then that
  76.           individual may also use one copy of the software on a port-
  77.           able computer or a home computer.

  79.       b)  This ShowMe Software License Agreement ("License") permits
  80.           the holder of an unlimited site License to use an unlimited
  81.           number of copies of the software on an unlimited number of
  82.           computers at one geographic site.  A geographic site is
  83.           defined as one building or group of buildings that are situ-
  84.           ated on a single contiguous site, said buildings and site
  85.           being owned or leased by a single individual or business
  86.           entity.  If a copy of the software is loaded onto the hard
  87.           disk or other storage device of a computer that is assigned
  88.           to an individual who's place of business or employment is
  89.           located on a geographic site where that business or employer
  90.           holds an unlimited site License, then that individual may also
  91.           use one copy of the software on a portable computer or a home
  92.           computer.

  94. 2. Restrictions

  96.           ShowMe Software and the author stipulate that you may not rent,
  97.           sublease, lease, sell, pledge or otherwise transfer or distri-
  98.           bute the original copy or archival copy of the program. You
  99.           agree not to translate, desassemble, modify, decompile, reverse
  100.           engineer, or create derivative works based on the program or
  101.           any part thereof.  This agreement is automatically terminated
  102.           without notice if any provision of this agreement is breached
  103.           by you.

  105. 3. Copyright

  107.           This software is owned by ShowMe Software or its suppliers and
  108.           is protected by the United States copyright laws and interna-
  109.           tional treaty provisions.

  112.           You may copy the software for backup purposes, and you may give
  113.           copies of the unregistered version to other individuals, which
  114.           they may also use and copy under the terms of this agreement.
  115.           If you copy the unregistered version of the software for others,
  116.           you must include all of the files distributed with it. The soft-
  117.           ware may not be sold, licensed, or a fee charged for its use.
  118.           If a fee is charged in connection with the unregistered version
  119.           of the software, it must cover the cost of copying or dissemina-
  120.           tion only.  Such charges must be clearly identified as such by
  121.           the originating party.  Under no circumstances may the purchaser
  122.           be given the impression that he is buying the software itself.
  123.           The author encourages BBS operators to post the unregistered
  124.           version of the the software package on their systems for down-
  125.           load by users wishing to evaluate it.  No other reproduction or
  126.           use is authorized without the express prior written consent of
  127.           the copyright owner.

  129. 4. Limited Warranty
  130.  
  131.         ShowMe Software has attempted to build reasonable safeguards into
  132.         this software. As with any useful computer application, this soft-
  133.         ware may contain errors in the program or documentation. The author
  134.         does not give any warranty, either expressed or implied, to anyone
  135.         using this program other than for the replacement of defective media.
  136.         ShowMe Software does not warrant that your use of this program will
  137.         be uninterrupted or error free. In no event shall the author be 
  138.         liable for any damages, including loss of profits or anticipated
  139.         profits, lost savings, or other incidental or consequential damages
  140.         arising out of the use or inability to use this program.  The program
  141.         comes "as is" and it is the user's responsibility to determine
  142.         whether the program is suitable for his or her computer system and
  143.         software needs. Replacement of the disk(s) containing the program is
  144.         your exclusive remedy and is your sole measure of recoverable damage.
